Widget anti-fraud settings

Updated over a week ago

Fraud is an inherent risk of trading online, and you are liable for potential loss of funds, recovery fees and administrative costs associated with any credit card chargebacks for your agency. (Refer to your Hero Agency Agreement for details).

If you’re unsure what a chargeback is or the reasons for them, check out this article.

Anti-fraud options exist within Hero to help you identify and reduce fraudulent transactions. To access these, switch to your widget-enabled Branch, access Reports & Admin and click Widget / API Configuration in your Branch Menu.

Widget / API Configuration

With Anti-Fraud enabled:

  • You can eliminate bookings of last-minute events by setting a cut-off period.

  • You can add a personalised message to the widget, advising your customers of essential next steps. For example, you may want to state that tickets will be issued after sighting ID.

  • Credit card payments are preauthorised but not charged.

  • You’re notified via email that a payment is pending, allowing you to check the quote and speak to your customer to confirm their legitimacy. Once you are satisfied, simply ‘finalise’ the booking and email tickets to the customer's email address. The payment will then be charged to the cardholder automatically.

Suggested: Request ID before issuing tickets

With each new booking, we recommend contacting the customer to verify their identity. This is a great customer service step and can be used to drive upsells.

We continue to work with our acquiring banks to implement best-practice measures relating to fraud mitigation strategies.
